Residence Visa – Pension/Retirement

The Residence Visa (RS) is valid for 60 days and is valid for only one entry. Once in Dominican territory, the beneficiary of this visa must appear before the General Directorate of Migration to formalize the procedures of their temporary residence, and must complete the additional requirements that it requires, this visa being the first requirement. (Section VI, Article 48, Section (a) Decree No. 631-11, Regulation of application of the General Migration Law No. 285-04).

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE APPLICANT ABROAD

 

  1. Visa Application Form
  2. Visa Application Letter with the signature of the beneficiary addressed to the corresponding consular office, containing name, nationality, place of residence and productive activity to which he/she is dedicated, as well as information on how he/she plans to establish himself/herself in the country as spouse or child of a foreigner legally residing in the DR or of a Dominican, this letter is not legalized or apostilled.
  3. One (1) 2 x 2 inch photograph , front facing and with a white background. (Passport type)
  4. Original passport must be valid for a minimum of eighteen (18) months.
  5. Birth Certificate of the interested party Apostilled by the Secretary of State.
  6. Medical Letter that the petitioner does not have any infectious or contagious diseases and signed by the doctor or hospital.
  7. Legible photocopy of the national identification document (driver's license) and a copy of the Residence Card, if you reside in a second country. 
  8. Certificate of No Criminal Record issued by the FBI (Not required for minors) this certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of issue) and certificates from the countries in which you have resided in the last 5 years, duly legalized or apostilled by the Secretary of State, as appropriate.
  9. Government Certification, official body or private company of foreign origin, where he/she provided his/her services, apostilled or legalized. This certification must contain the general information of the applicant, time spent in the company, position held and the amount received as a pension.
  • Certified check or money order made payable to the Dominican Consulate in CA

These documents must be submitted in original. The income received by 

wages do not apply.

  • TWO BANK STATEMENTS FROM THE LAST FEW MONTHS, REFLECTING THE AMOUNT OF THE PENSION DEPOSITED IN THE ACCOUNT MONTHLY. THIS DOCUMENT MUST BE APOSTILLED.

NOTE: In order to qualify for the preferential regime established in Law 171-07, Pensioners or Retirees and Foreign Annuitants must receive a monthly income according to the following scale: The minimum income amount for the Pensioner is US $1,500.00 dollars or its equivalent in pesos.

  1. Include a prepaid (properly stamped) and pre-addressed envelope to send your documents to the Dominican Consulate in California. 500 North Brand Blvd. Suite # 960, Glendale, CA 91203. (We recommend that the envelope include a tracking number.) You can use UPS, DHL, or USPS. (We are not responsible for shipping costs.)


IMPORTANT NOTES:

Do not buy a travel ticket until you are informed if your visa has been approved.

Having completed all the requirements required above does not mean visa approval, but indicates that the consulate can accept your request, evaluate it and send it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who will issue the final decision.

Once in Dominican territory, they have a period of 30 days to appear before the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) to formalize the procedures of their residence, visas or temporary permit, having to complete the additional requirements that it requires according to the Regulation of application of General Migration Law No. 285.
