Route Letter

This document can only be requested in cases of extreme urgency. It is only valid for travel to the Dominican Republic and is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

Upon arrival in the Dominican Republic, the citizen is responsible for renewing his or her passport in order to travel from the Dominican Republic.

REQUIREMENTS::

1. NOTARIZED fingerprint form. (Download link at the bottom of our website: http://consulatedrwest.gob.do). Route Letter Service.

2. You must send photocopies of your Dominican identification documents (passport, national ID card, and birth certificate; a recent birth certificate is required). A copy of your birth certificate from 2022 onward with a QR code is required. If you do not have a valid birth certificate, you can process one with us for an additional fee of $$20.00.

3. A passport-sized photo (2×2).
-NOT PHYSICAL, send it digitally to info@consulatedrwest.gob.do
(Take a photo with a cell phone or camera and send it to the email after submitting your physical documents.)
-Photo requirements include: a white background; both ears and the forehead must be visible; hair must not cover any part of the face; no smile; no glasses, no earrings, no chains, no necklaces, and/or accessories. Clothing must have sleeves; shoulders must be uncovered.

4. Copy of the itinerary for the trip to the Dominican Republic.

5. FOR MINORS: BOTH PARENTS MUST SIGN A ROUTE LETTER AUTHORIZATION (LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE) AND SEND COPIES OF THE PARENTS' ID CARDS ON BOTH SIDES.

We only accept: Money order or certified check made payable to the Consulate of the Dominican Republic.

Include a pre-paid (pre-printed) and pre-directed envelope (with your address) to return the documents. It is recommended that you use FedEx, UPS, or DHL services. If you use a FedEx, we only accept the Prepaid FedEx Envelope (We are not responsible for shipping payments).

Please send the documents indicated above, together with a certified check or money order payable to the Dominican Consulate in California, to our address: 500 N. Brand Blvd. suite 960 Glendale, CA 91203.

Note:

-Depending on the documents provided, this process may take 10 business days. We recommend that the envelope you provide be numbered.

– If the passport is lost or stolen, we need a police report that specifies the loss or theft, as the case may be, of your DOMINICAN passport or you can request the service from this consulate of a Sworn Letter for loss with a cost of USD$100.00

-Payments by certified check or money order are for citizens who cannot physically attend the consulate; those who attend in person can pay by credit card.
