He\u00a0Consulate of the Dominican Republic in California<\/strong>,\u00a0USA<\/strong>, and the\u00a0General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE)\u00a0<\/strong>recently developed an unprecedented strategic agenda for\u00a0Promote the incentives and locations offered by the Dominican Republic<\/strong>\u00a0to senior executives of\u00a0the most important ones<\/strong>\u00a0film companies in Hollywood<\/strong>, in order to attract large productions to the national territory.<\/p>\n

After several months of coordination between the two institutions,\u00a0the agenda, developed<\/strong>\u00a0between July 16 and 20, 2018<\/strong>, included presentations and meetings with the heads of production and finance of\u00a0Paramount Pictures<\/b>,\u00a0Universal Studios<\/b>,\u00a0Sony Pictures<\/b>,\u00a0The Walt Disney Company<\/b>,\u00a0Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios<\/b>,\u00a0Lionsgate Entertainment<\/b>,\u00a0Netflix<\/strong>,\u00a0Highland Film Studios, One Race Films<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0AG Studios USA<\/b>.<\/p>\n

These meetings were led by the Consul General of the Dominican Republic in\u00a0California<\/strong>,\u00a0Janet Blandino<\/strong>, and the Director General of the\u00a0DGCINE<\/strong>,\u00a0Yvette Marichal<\/strong>, accompanied by the Coordinator for the Film Industry in Los Angeles,\u00a0Solly Dur\u00e1n<\/strong>, and the Director of Communications of the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in California,\u00a0Ron Lizardo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

"The\u00a0Dominican Republic<\/strong>\u00a0has<\/strong>\u00a0the most competitive incentives in all of Latin America<\/strong>, and our goal is for every executive in the film industry to\u00a0Hollywood<\/strong>\u00a0consider making your production in our country, when choosing your filming location," he said\u00a0Janet Blandino<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Since the creation of the incentives granted through the\u00a0Law No. 108-10 for the Promotion of Film Activity in the Dominican Republic<\/strong>to<\/strong><\/em>, the country has become a film destination for the production of cinematographic and audiovisual works by industry companies from all over the world. Therefore, the President of the\u00a0Dominican Republic<\/strong>,\u00a0Danilo Medina<\/strong>, has established as a priority of his government the\u00a0attracting foreign productions<\/strong>\u00a0to be developed in the country, as well as the placement of Dominican productions on the stages of other countries.<\/p>\n

In addition to meetings with film executives, the\u00a0Consulate of the Dominican Republic in California<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0DGCINE<\/strong>\u00a0held a meeting with some of the main\u00a0Location Scouts<\/strong>,<\/i>\u00a0in which the various locations that our island has to offer for film productions were promoted.<\/p>\n
